The Upward Build

We are so grateful to have you in our community—your presence and heart for our mission truly mean the world to us. Your generosity is what turns a moment of crisis into a foundation of security. Below are stories of recent, critical interventions. Read on to see exactly how your support empowers these resilient women to reclaim their lives and build stronger futures.

♥ A Home Saved for the Holidays - When one of our own Butterflies—a cherished member of her community for over a decade—faced the sudden loss of her livelihood as a result of the fires, the stakes couldn't have been higher. With significant back rent looming and the holidays just days away, she was on the verge of losing the home she had known for years. The Butterfly Foundation mobilized to secure her home, successfully raising the funds needed to settle her rent through the compassion of our supporters. Because of your swift action, she spent her holidays safe and warm, with the peace of mind necessary to begin her healing process. Thank you for being her lifeline.

♥ A Divine New Chapter - This resilient Butterfly found us on social media in what can only be described as a Divine appointment. After escaping an abusive relationship and enduring prolonged legal proceedings that exhausted her finances, she was determined to relocate herself and her son to a safe, healthy environment. Even while navigating these personal trials, she remained remarkably driven, recently earning her MBA. Though she is a skilled project manager for nonprofits and government agencies, the loss of a major contract created a sudden financial gap. By easing her debt over the holidays, The Butterfly Foundation provided the stability she needed to focus on her recovery and her family's future.

♥ Stability After the Storm - Meet our latest Butterfly, a resilient woman who found herself in the path of the Palisades fire. Though she survived the blaze, she tragically lost her job in its wake. As the post-fire rent forbearance expired, she faced the terrifying prospect of eviction during the holidays from the home she had cherished for over a decade. The Butterfly Foundation stepped in to provide the critical funds needed to halt the eviction. By bridging this financial gap, we ensured she could stay in her long-term home, providing the stability she needs to rebuild her career and move forward.

♥ Caring for a Caregiver - After decades of service as a nanny, this Butterfly faced a challenging season of unemployment. Despite her extensive experience, finding a new role proved difficult as she navigated a job market that often overlooks seasoned workers. The Butterfly Foundation allocated the resources necessary to sustain her, ensuring she remained supported during this significant life transition. By easing her financial burden, we are honored to care for a woman who has given so much of her life to caring for others.

♥ A Foundation for Fresh Starts - After thirty years of calling the Palisades home, one of our Butterflies faced a series of unimaginable challenges. Just before the devastating fires forced her to relocate, she received a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease. The transition to a new community, combined with the complexities of managing her health, led to the loss of her long-term bookkeeping clients. With her income suddenly halted, basic living expenses became overwhelming. The Butterfly Foundation cleared the path with a grant, easing her financial burden and providing the stability she needs as she seeks new professional opportunities.

♥ A Bridge Back Home - After navigating the difficulties of divorce and the rising costs of living, one of our Butterflies made the courageous decision to return to her hometown to start anew. While she had a clear vision for her future, the high cost of relocation presented a final, significant hurdle. The Butterfly Foundation cleared the way by providing the vital financial support needed to cover her moving expenses. By bridging this gap, we helped facilitate her journey home, ensuring she has the resources to plant new roots in a supportive and affordable environment.
